Oman tourist e-visa — OMR 5 for 10 days or OMR 20 for 30 days

Oman's unsponsored tourist e-visas are applied for at the Royal Oman Police portal evisa.rop.gov.om. Eligible (G1-list) nationalities choose between the 26A visa — 10 days for OMR 5 — and the 26B visa — 30 days for OMR 20. Both require a passport valid 6 months on entry and a valid hotel booking in Oman. A first extension of stay, equal to the original visa length, can be done by the applicant online.

who needs itNationals on Oman's G1 approved list apply directly. Travellers from a wider list of nationalities can qualify via the 26M/26N routes if they hold a valid Schengen visa or a valid visa for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia or Japan. Some nationalities (the G1 Special list, including New Zealand under 26C) get free or extended entry — the portal's visa-type checker states each rule.

documents you will need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months on entry to Oman, with a clear data-page scan
  • A recent passport-style photo (digital upload)
  • A valid hotel booking in the Sultanate of Oman — an official condition of the tourist visa
  • For the 26M/26N route: your valid Schengen / USA / UK / Canada / Australia / Japan visa

how the process runs

  1. 01Check your route on the official visa-type checker at evisa.rop.gov.om — G1 list direct, or 26M/26N via a valid Western visa
  2. 02Register on the ROP portal and apply for 26A (10-day, OMR 5) or 26B (30-day, OMR 20)
  3. 03Upload your passport, photo and hotel booking, then pay the fee online
  4. 04Receive the e-visa by email and present it on arrival — entry remains at the discretion of the ROP officer at the port

why applications get refused

  • Passport with less than 6 months validity on entry
  • No valid hotel booking in Oman — the portal states this as a visa condition
  • Nationality not on the G1 list and not qualifying via the 26M/26N valid-visa route
  • Inconsistent or incomplete application details

questions we actually get

Which visa should I pick — 26A or 26B?
26A is 10 days for OMR 5; 26B is 30 days for OMR 20. Both are single-entry tourist visas with the same conditions, so choose by trip length — and note the first extension (same length as the original) can be done online.
What happens if I overstay?
The official conditions state a fine of OMR 10 for every day of overstay, so extend online before your visa lapses rather than after.
I'm not on the eligible list — can I still get an Oman e-visa?
Possibly. If you hold a valid Schengen visa or a valid visa for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia or Japan, the 26M (30-day) and 26N (10-day) routes open the e-visa to a wider list of nationalities. Otherwise the visa must be sponsored.
